The booking of the room will be made on the basis of availability. Therefore, candidates are hereby advised to book the room at the earliest and also to carry admit card/letter & photo identity card (voter card/pan card etc.) To facilitate identification at the hotel/guest house. Schedule of IOC & Interview for Qualified Candidates

ALL THE  CANDIDATES QUALIFIED FOR IOC & INTERVIEW  ARE ASKED TO REPORT THE TUTORIAL SECTION OF SATYAJIT RAY FILM AND TELEVISION INSTITUTE, KOLKATA BY 9:30 AM ON 21ST OCTOBER ’13 FOR REGISTRATION.

Certificates and mark sheets of the above-mentioned candidates will be verified at the time of Registration at SRFTI. Ineligible applicants or applicants who are unable to produce the original Certificates and Mark Sheets will automatically lose their candidature for IOC/Interview/Admission at any time in the process of selection without any notice.

FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF INTERACTIVE ORIENTATION COURSE:

1. Admit card of the admission test.

2. All Original Admit cards and Mark-sheets.

3. Attested photocopies of all Mark-sheets and Admit Cards.

5. Copy of the application form.

6. Institute’s copy of Bank Challan.

7. Three stamp-size (2X2.5 cm) colour photographs.

8. Parents’/guardian’s income certificate or any one of the followings:

a. Copy of the Income Tax Return.

b. Copy of Form 16.

c. Copy of the Pay Slip/ Salary Certificate from the employer.

d. Income Certificate from local government.

9. Photo ID card, which has the postal address, of the candidate (e.g. voter Id card, Driving address, aadhaar card, passport etc.).

10. Original Caste Certificate (For SC/ST candidates) and two attested photocopies thereof. OBC-non creamy layer candidates will be required to produce original certificate along with two attested copies of category certificates, issued after January 2013 by a competent authority in the prescribed format. Download OBC_NCL_CERTIFICATE from the above hyper-link. OBC candidates without NCL certificate will be considered as Ineligible candidate.

Important Announcement

The candidates who have deposited application fee to the bank, but could not apply online, please forward their detail [Name, Fathers name, course opted for, address for communication, mobile no.,email-id, sex, caste, date of birth, choice of center, qualification detail,scanned copy of the challan,scanned copy of the photograph, & scanned copy of signature ] to our helpdesk email id given below by 5:00 clock today.

The Admit card for written examinations on 01-11-2013 have already been available in our admission portal http://admission.srfti.ac.in candidates are requested to login with their user ID/password to take printout of the same from the system.

Those who didn’t receive admit card for some technical reason may produce the printed application form and the original bank challan both  for appearing  in the written exam 2013 scheduled on 01-09-2013

Admit Card

The admit card for the Written Examination to be held on 1st September 2013 is available on our admission portal admission.srfti.ac.in . Please take a print out of the same using your login ID and password and produce it at the examination centre at 9 am on 1st September 2013 (together with your Identity Card, which should have your  Photograph, pasted on it and issued by Government Bodies/University/College).

Candidates who qualify in the written Examination AND fulfill the eligibility criteria for admission (i.e. Graduation with Physics/mathematics at XII level for Sound Recording and Design and Graduation only for all other streams) will be called for an Interactive Orientation Course to be held at SRFTI, Kolkata. The list of candidates who qualify for this orientation Course will be available on our official website by 18/09/13.

Please note the following as well:

I)   Mobile phone, pager, digital diary, calculator or any other such item(s) that are barred for security reason or assessed by the centre supervisor as unacceptable, will not be allowed in the examination hall.

II)   Answers are required to be written in English only. You are NOT supposed to write anything at the back of the front page. Answers are to be written within the space provided in the answer sheet.

III)   Candidates are supposed to carry pen & pencil (colour pencil may be needed for candidates of specialization in cinematography) in the examination hall. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before 11 am for any reason. No Candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall after 10:30 am.

Instruction for filling up form

Important guidelines to candidates facing problem in filling up the online application form


It has been reported that some candidates are facing problem in filling up the online form.

Please check the following before filling up the online Application form.

Q. After registration not getting the password.
A. Please check the spam/junk folder and report the mail as “not a spam”

Q. Photo & Signature not uploading
A. The size of the photo should be <=40KB & Signature <=20KB. Please resize the photo & signature to have the proper sizes and make them ready before filling up the application

Q. After submitting the form from the second / third screen getting syntax error.
A. Your session is timed out, because candidate has  taken much time in filling up the form

Q. From the first screen after filling all the detail and pressing the submit & proceed button ,the second screen for uploading the photo is not coming, instead a red circle is moving [processing] and getting stopped.
A. This may be a network/server busy issue. Instead of submitting the same form again & again,please try filling the form afresh. i.e from  typing the url http://admission.srfti.ac.in in the browser and then proceeding from this page, also please clear all the history from the browser.

ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT:

 

Applications are invited for admission to 3-year postgraduate programme in cinema (session 2013 – 2016) specialization in Direction & Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Sound Recording & Design, Editing and Producing for Film & Television.

Applications are to be made on-line through the website of the institute on and from 29th July 2013.

The last date for on-line application to the courses is 23rd August, 2013.

Application fee has to be made in any branch of SBI using the prescribed ‘Bank Challan’, in favour Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata

Admission of students under SC/ST/ OBC non creamy layer quota is as per rules. It is to be noted that Ragging is prohibited as per decision of the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition No. (c) 656/1998.

Notes:

1. Details of each course, eligibility criteria etc. are available in e-prospectus.

2. There will be an all-India Admission Test for all courses.

ONLINE ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Candidates will have to apply for the entrance examination through the online application system of the Institute.

The online application allows the candidate to provide all required information and also to upload scanned photograph and signature.

The application fee has to be paid by the following ways before filling up the application form:

Candidates will have to deposit the required amount at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) by using

the printed Bank Challan, available in the website.

Prospective candidates are advised to visit our website  at regular intervals for updates.

Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. The application fee will not be refunded in any case. Rights of cancellation or selection/admission lie with the Admission Committee of the Institute. The Institute reserves the right to limit the number of eligible applicants to be called for interactive Orientation Course.

I)  Selection (Merit wise and specialization wise based on the Written Test) for interactive Orientation Course is provisional and is subject to:

  1. Fulfilling of the eligibility criteria as notified earlier.
  2. Verification of the marks/degrees (equivalence to graduate etc.).
  3. Correction in the merit position due to error, if any.

II) Candidates who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission by mistake.

III) SC/ST/ OBC (Non-creamy layer) quota as per rules.

IV) No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.

V) Candidates are to take admission in one subject only.

VI) All admissions are provisional.

VII) In case of multiple applications, all the application will be rejected and no fee will be refunded.

VIII) If a candidate fails to register his/her name by paying the admission and other fees by the specified date and time for admission, the next candidate in order of merit will be considered for admission.

Candidates in the selection list must submit an affidavit on a non-judicial court paper at the time of admission.

Text of the affidavit will be available in the website after declaring the merit list for admission.

X) Those candidates who have already been admitted to any institution affiliated to other universities/ working in an organization will be required to produce a withdrawal/resignation certificate from the institution/organization concerned at the time of admission to SRFTI. A declaration will be required for giving up the profession during the course for self employed candidate. If they are unable to submit it at the time of admission, they may apply to the Dean for extension of time. Under no circumstances such candidates will be allowed to submit the “withdrawal certificate/ cancellation certificate” after one week of commencement of session. No students are allowed to be engaged academically or professionally to any educational/ occupational institute or organization during the academic tenure.

XI) Provisional admission of the candidates who fail to submit withdrawal certificate/ cancellation certificate within the stipulated date will be cancelled.

XII) Hostel accommodation is not assured. However, outstation candidates may apply to the Registrar at the time of admission for hostel accommodations. Forms for the hostel admission are available on the site. It may also be collected on the day of admission.

The admit card and government recognized photo ID card will be required to attend the written examination. OBC candidates will be required to produce original certificate along with two attested copies of category certificates, issued after January 2013 by a competent authority in the prescribed format. METHOD OF SELECTION:

a)       A written examination of three hours duration will be scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm on 01/09/13. The paper for written examination will be divided in three sections. First section will be having 30 marks on mental aptitude, second section will be of 40 marks on creative aptitude and third section will consist of 30 marks on specific area aptitude (total 100 marks). Answers are required to be written in English only.

b)       The Question Paper will be composed in six groups. Group ‘A’ on mental and creative aptitude will be mandatory for all the candidates and they have to choose one of the rest five groups (B, C, D, E, F) for specific area aptitude test. B, C, D, E and F groups are for Cinematography, Direction & SPW, Editing, Producing for Film & Television and Sound recording & Design respectively. There is no negative marking in the written examination.

c)       The cut off marks in written examination for the candidates in general category is 35% and for the candidates in reserved category is 30%. Only maximum of first 30 candidates from each specialization will be called for interactive orientation course and interview.

d)       A four-day interactive orientation course will be scheduled between 21st & 24th October ’13 for the department of Direction & SPW, Editing and producing and five-day interactive orientation course will be scheduled between 21st & 25th October ’13 for the department of Cinematography and Sound Recording & Design. The interactive Orientation Course will be followed by interview.

e)       The weightage of marks to prepare the final merit list will be 20% of written examination, 55% of interactive O.C and 25% of interview. The full marks for each of the three sections will be 100.

f)        Among successful candidates, if more than one candidate are found to have scored identical marks in merit list, the candidate who will have higher score in interactive O.C. will be given preference in the merit list.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Minimum qualification for admission in any of the five courses will be graduation in any discipline. The graduate candidates, who have the marks sheet of the final examination for bachelor degree in their hand by 14th August ’13, are eligible to apply. The candidates should have at least 40% marks either in Physics or in Mathematics (not in business mathematics/elective mathematics/statics etc.) at +2 level for applying in Sound Recording & Design course.

Institute reserves the right to change the admission center.

ADMISSION FEE:

Admission fee for the candidates other than S.C. & S.T. category and for candidates in S.C. & S.T. category may be Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 500/- respectively. Each department will have 12 seats only (Six in general category, 2 in OBC non creamy layer category, 1 in SC category, 1 in ST category and 2 seats are reserved for students from foreign origin).
