Department of Animation Cinema

A.S.Krishna Swamy

—Professor & Head of the Department

36 years of experience in the field of Fine arts and Animation Media. He received a MDes. in Animation film design from NID. He started directing 2D Animation for the Indian Artists Chennai. Directed the company in to VFX for Television and Feature films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu. He was a founder member and Director layout for Millitoon animation PVT. Ltd. which won a BAFTA for the best Animation series. Animated for Toon Disney in Bangalore. He as the Creative director led the Pre-production team of Maya Entertainment limited in Mumbai. Handled projects in Game Art, Pilots, T.V. Series for Tigarhare, Visionscape, Sony PSP, BBC cartoons and EA games. Taken up academics as the Creative Head of Aptech’s Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics and had started their train the trainers programme in India and Abroad. He was pa rt of the Indian Delegation of Animators to get trained by HRD wing of Govt.of Japan in Manga and Anime production and tech­niques. He was Part of the award winning team of North American Film awards 2017.

Argha Sengupta

— Associate Professor

The Co-founder and Creative Director of Magic Tree Studios, is a graduate in animation and film making from India’s renowned design institute, the National Institute of Design. He has been with the film and media industry for 14 years.

He started his career as a 2D classical Cel animator for a multimedia company. During his 14 years he had worked on various International TV programs and Bollywood films of repute. He had headed several international projects, DVD features, TV series and Game cinematics for reputed clients like Nickelodeon UK, BBC 1UK, Visionscape Interactive USA, Disney and Tigarhare Studios USA.

He had also supervised Visual Effects for Indian popular channels like Star, Zee, Sahara, Set Max, NEO sports and production house like UTV, and Prime Channel, he had also supervised the Art and Visual Effects for more than 30 feature films including Ketan Mehta’s ” The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey” and the CG cum Live feature film called ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero”

Suvobrata Roy Chowdhury

—Assistant Professor

Studied Graphic Art at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. After a brief stint in television with Television 18 India Ltd he went on to do his Masters in Graphic Art from M.S. University of Baroda, where he taught for a year after graduating. He joined Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in 1999. He further studied Animation Film Production at DeAnza College, California, USA, while working at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He has written, produced and directed two independent short animation films.

Devraj Sarkar

—Animator

Debraj is an independent short filmmaker, animator and vfx artist from Kolkata. His short films won many awards and honorable mention throughout the country and internationally in the recent past. His film “Golden Bird” won the 14th Mumbai International Film Festival, FICCI BAF Award, TASI in our country and World Culture Asia Award from Anim Arte 2015 – Brazil, Best Animation Award from River Film Festival – Italy, internationally.

He graduated in Fine Art form Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, developed a special interest in animated storytelling with computer graphics. Got specialized in Animation and VFX through his self-taught efforts in the initial stages, he honed is skills with a course in 3d animation form a professional institute. He had funded his own films by working for the media industry. He has 5 years of experience in the media and broadcasting industry

Samiran Datta

—Professor & Head of the Department

An alumni of FTII Pune Samiran Datta has got 18 years of work experience that includes ten feature films to his credit as DOP along with several Documentary, ADfilms etc. Films shot by him have been showcased in leading international film festivals including Venice, Rotterdam, Moscow and Chicago. Four films shot by Samiran has bagged national awards as best film in India and Bangladesh. His nonfiction work has been showcased in BBC, NGC, CNN and YLE Thema. ‘Meherjaan’ a fiction feature on Bangladesh war of independence has won him best cinematography award in Hobocan International film festival, USA. The same film has also bagged accolade award for excellence[USA] for best cinematography.Beyond Cinema and Cinematography Samiran has a keen interest in new media art.

Oindrilla Hazra Pratapan

—Associate Professor

MA in English literature from Calcutta University; Post Graduate Diploma in MPP from FTII, Pune

Directed and shot documentary and educational films that have been critically acclaimed. Worked as cinematographer for Ad films, and experimental shorts.

UGC CEC award for a 4 episode educational film called Koodiyattom –surviving change; recognized as a screen entrepreneur, by the British Council; Her latest documentary film Draupadi’s Descendants has screened at international festivals. Has closely been associated with the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, which organizes both the IFFK and IDSFF festivals.

Hitesh Liya

—Assistant Professor

Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay & Post Graduate Diploma in Cinematography from SRFTI, Kolkata.

Industry experience: Hitesh is a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay and a graduate in Cinematography from SRFTI. He has a keen interest in theorizing Cinema as a Visual Art by simplifying scientific techniques and blending them with the knowledge of visual aesthetics. While studying Cinematography at SRFTI, Hitesh was selected as a student participant for the coveted, ‘ 5th VGIK International Summer School ‘ (2013) on Documentary film making at the Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK), the oldest film institute in the world. His short documentary, ‘My Russian Diary’ at the summer school as a director-cinematographer won ‘Best Film’ award of the summer school. He teaches Cinema through fundamentals of celluloid and innovative digital media. He has been working in the Mumbai film industry and has shot Ad films and short films. He has conducted a short term course on ‘Short Film Making’ at various institutes in Mumbai and has been a guest faculty at different film institutes. He has been a part of the Camera team for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Apart from shooting films as a Cinematographer, Hitesh also writes and directs short films and does Street Photography with his Celluloid still camera.

His short films has been selected for international festivals in Turkey, Italy, Uruguay and Spain and have won awards.

Putul Mahmood

—Associate Professor, Script Writing & HOD-in-charge

Post graduate diploma in Direction & Screenplay Writing from FTII, Pune

She is the producer of the Bengali feature film Cosmic Sex. She has directed numerous short fiction films, documentary films, and TV series; notably the short fiction films You Who Never Arrived and The Window; the documentaries I Shoot You, Man of Silence – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Atasi and Three Sisters; the nonfiction TV series Raag Rang and Renditions. She has designed and been the Course Director of Docudrama a three week long residential Documentary Workshop and Appreciation course, the first of its kind, in collaboration with Siddhartha Kak and the IDC department of IIT Powai.

Ranajit Gharai

Post graduate diploma in Art-Direction & Production Design from FTII,Pune
Started his career as an assistant to renowned Production Designer, Art Director, Late Samir Chanda in his two feature films, Ekti Nodir Golpo & Welcome to Sajjanpur. Worked independently as art director in several short fiction, reality shows and advertising films.

Tridib Poddar

Post graduate diploma in Direction & Screenplay Writing from SRFTI, Kolkata.

Been Head of Mass Communication & Videography Department at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Worked as director in fiction & documentary films. His Diploma film Khoj ( In Search) has been shown in many national and international film festival and has been an official selection in the competition section in the Cinefondation, Cannes Film Festival. The film also received the Best Debut Film Award in MIFF in 2004. His first independent short fiction titled Shahore (In the City) made in 2005, participated in many festivals andreceived critical acclaims.

Tangella Madhavi

Post graduate diploma in Direction & Screenplay Writing from SRFTI,Kolkata

Tangella Madhavi is an award winning independent documentary film maker. She has made films for PSBT, Films Division, Majlis, VPRO Netherlands and NHK Japan. Tangella Madhavi has also taught documentary film making at Sophia Polytechnic and been a documentary mentor for Idocs (Documentary Resource Initiative), Documentor ( Imphal ) and was on the selection committee for International Documentary for Mumbai International Film Festival, 2015. An alumni of SRFTI, Asian Film Academy, Mumbai University and Sophia Polytechnic, Tangella Madhavi’s core area of interests are research, Indian documentaries, and writing.

Saikat Shekhareshwar Ray

—Assistant Professor & HOD-in-charge

Post graduate diploma in editing from SRFTI, Kolkata

Worked as the chief editor with a number of well-known directors, in projects commissioned by National and International television channels and funders. He has been the editor for “Hope Dies Last in War” a Swarna Kamal(National Award) winning film directed by Supriyo Sen. He has also edited films commissioned by Al-jazeera network, NHK, ITVS, Fokus, Finland and YLE. Apart from mainstream documentaries, he also has edited a number of Ads and corporate films.

Joined the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2006 as a faculty in the Film Editing Department. In 2009, he joined the St. Xavier’s College as a lecturer in the Mass Communication and Videography Department.

Prasenjit Ghosh

Industry experience: Worked on an Indo-Italian Film ‘in the twelfth night’ .Worked as Production Liaison Officer in a German film ‘Shadow of time’. Directed a diploma film ‘The Swing’ which participated in the 7th Short Film Festival, Dhaka. Directed a Doordarshan commissioned documentary on Jnanpath Award wining poet Subhash Mukhopadhyay‘ Tar par JeteJete’.Directed SRFTI produced film ‘Golpokalpana’ which participated in Kolkata Film Festival (Video Section).Worked as EP for a documentary produced by Madhyam, Bhopal. Participated in a student exchange programme on production in HFF, Potsdam as faculty supervisor. Headed the student Production Dept for 14 years.Supervised around 60 Diplomas, 80 short films, innumerable AD, Promos, Playback & Student workshop.

Nilanjan Banerjee

Post Graduate Diploma in Direction & Screenplay Writing from SRFTI, Kolkata.

Industry experience: Directed the feature film ‘Tomar Jonno’ produced by Zee Motion Pictures. Has worked as an associate with the acclaimed film maker ate shri Rituporno Ghosh and also was an associate in the film ‘Brick Lane’ directed by Sarah Gavron. The documentary film ‘Mayabazaar’ made by him was showcased in the Mumbai International Film Festival.
Later on he went on to launch two Television Production Houses ‘Eyewash’ and ‘Fish Eye Productions’ and produced shows for broadcasters like Star India, Colors, Zee Tv and line produced for production houses like BBC, Big Synergy, Colescium. Has been associated with TV brands such as Kaun Banega Crorepati and Jhalak Dikh La Ja

Subhasish Das Sharma

Graduated from Calcutta University.

Worked as a theatre worker in “Anya Theater” for 12 years headed by Shri Bibhash Chakraborty. Worked in the capacity of production designer for several group theaters. Worked as assistant/anchor for 5 years at Doordarshan, Kolkata and All India Radio. Acted in several Bengali feature film and TV serial. Looks after the production of the Bengali future film “MegherMeye” directed by PallabKirtaniya. Worked as playback singer in more than 10 Bengali feature films. From the inception of SRFTI looking after the production of almost all batches students short film, playback and diploma project.

Amitabha Das

—Production Manager

BSc. major in Sericulture, Masters in Business Administration specialization in Marketing. Post Graduate diploma in cinema specialization on Producing for Film & Television from SRFTI.

Worked at JWT, Gurgaon as marketing planner. Worked as Executive Producer in the Tamil Film “Revelation” which now available at “Netflix”. Worked as production controller as well as production designer in Bengali feature film “Ami O Monohar”, which won best feature film award at Kerala film Festival and mentioned in MID DAY and Ekdin news paper as top 15 all-India and South Asian films to watch out for in 2019.Worked as producer of India part in the student short film project of Columbia University, USA.
During student at SRFTI worked in the capacity of Line Producer in the Diploma film “Kamuki” directed by KristoTonny, which won National film award. He worked in SRFTI seniors’ diploma projects before completion of his diploma project. Their won diploma film got best viewer choice film award at “Istanbul international short film festival”,Turkey and also received accolades from various national and international film festival of repute. Worked as executive producer in several documentary films, ad films and short films in different parts of India and abroad.

Pankaj Seal

Sudipta Bhaumik

—Professor, Electronic and Digital Media Management

Sudipta Bhaumik has been associated with media industry since the early 90’s. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India ( FTll), Pune. Sudipta has worked both in creative and senior management roles, responsible for making strategies and executing plans as Programming Head and Creative Head. He has directed and produced various kinds of TV genres, both fiction (daily soaps, telefilms, short films) and nonfiction (game shows, talk shows, reality shows) both in India and abroad. Sudipta was the Programming Head of Zee Bangla for almost nine years. He has produced & released five Bangla feature films for Zee Network and produced & directed two international documentaries for NHK, Japan. Sudipta has been engaged with the major graduate media schools of eastern India as a visiting and full time faculty since 1997.

Ashim Sekhar Paul

Assistant Professor, Electronic & Digital Media Management

Ashim S. Paul is an alumnus of Jadavpur University, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute and La Fémis (École nationale supérieure des métiers de l’image et du son). His works have been honoured in premiere film festivals in Spain, Israel, France and India and also received a Kodak award. During his five year long association with National Film Development Corporation Limited, Ashim spearheaded multiple productions, including production of several television advertisements for West Bengal Tourism. He also directed corporate documentaries and short fictions for Maharatna companies like Coal India Limited, Indian Oil Corporation and several other Miniratna companies.
Ashim, a cinéaste, also writes and presents literary articles on various forms and formats of audio-visual medium in national and international conferences.

Mandira Mitra

Mandira Mitra is an alumna of the Film and Television In­stitute of India ( FTll), Pune. A filmmaker, film critic and re­puted television professional, her work has been shown and received honors at international festivals like Ober­hausen, Karlovy Vary, Turin, ICA London, Birmingham, Henri Langlois, Paris. Her experience in television content creation spans over 28 years, having written, produced and directed numerous documentaries, series, fiction shorts, telefilms and other commissioned programs for TV both in India and abroad. Over the past decade, she has been totally involved in mainstream commercial televi­sion production; as Creative Head of at least a dozen TV shows for leading Entertainment channels like STAR, Zee, ETV and Colors. She has also been creative/script consul­tant on a number of web series projects. She has many years of experience of mentoring aspiring TV professionals training recruits and interns ‘on – the – job’. Moreover, she has been guest lecturer and has conducted script / direc­tion workshops in media schools and institutions.

Rohitaswa Mukherjee

Assistant Professor, Writing for Electronic & Digital Media Management

Rohitaswa Mukherjee is an alumnus of Rabindra Bharati University and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute . His works have been honoured in premiere film festivals in various countries and of course in India and also received National Awared , nominated in CILECT and other prestigious festivals. During his more than five years long association with prime GEC TV channels of india like STAR and Viacom18, Rohitaswa handled multiple on-air responsibilities as an OAP professional. During that period, he produced several innovative and intriguing launch promos for channels. He also handled several advertisements for channels. He played different roles; as an assistant director to a post-production supervisor to director for various freelance projects like corporate, documentary, ad, feature film etc.
Rohitaswa continues his writings and experiments with cinema.

Chandan Goswami

Professor, Cinematography for Electronic and Digital Media

An alumnus of FTll Pune Chandan Goswami has got nearly 20 years of work experience in the film & television industry. He started his career as chief assistant cameraman in feature films like Zubeida, NETAJI – THE FORGOTTEN HERO both directed by Mr. Shyam Benegal. Later he independently shot many feature films which includes Hindi [Hera-Hoda aka Blind Camel, Trisha, Morning Walk, Monica, Das Capital etc.] and Bengali [Half Serious, Bari tar Bangla, Bonku Babu, Daker Saaj etc.] as Director of Photography. Apart from these, he has shot several documentaries [Sahitya Academi: directed by Gulzar], Television shows [IC 814 Hijack for National Geographic, Tehreer Munshi Premchand Ki by Gulzar, Mano Ya Na Mano for Star One, Gutur Gu for SAB TV, Chatrapati Shivaji for Doordarshan] etc.

Abheri De

Abheri De graduated from Film & Television Institute of India ( FTll), Pune in 2014. She started her career as a 2nd Assistant Cinematographer, assisting ace Director of Photography Mr. Binod Pradhan in feature fiIms like BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG ,YOU OF MANY DAYS & 2 STATES. Within a year she got the opportunity to work as a Chief Asst. Cinematographer & Operative Camera Person in corporate videos & feature films with Director of Photography Savita Singh & Director of Photography Reshmi Sarkar, both her seniors from FTII. She got her first break as a DOP for a Bengali feature film BITNOON produced by Jalan International Films in her hometown Kolkata. ONYO BASA NTO, her second feature film, a Television Movie in the Zee Originals Series done by Nideas Creations & Zee Bangla Cinema gave her much critical acclaim. CALCUTTA SONATA , a documentary film shot by her was screened at the KIFF 2017.

Saumitra Mitra

Assistant Broadcast Engineer, Broadcasting Department

Saumitra Mitra is an Alumnus of Burdawan University. He has worked in different NEWS TV Channels as a Deputy Technical Head (Frontier TV Assam), Baseband Engineer (Kolkata TV & NE Bangla), IT Manager (Kolkata TV).During his long association with NEWS TV Channels, Saumitra had handled multiple responsibilities (like installation & maintenance of base band equipment, RF transmission, News studio, PCR, MCR, Ingest, all types of SERVERS, OB Van and DSNG Van). He has handled Multi-Cam Setup for Football Match & for LIVE Musical events through OB van as a Technical Engineer.He has also handled DSNG van as a RF engineer. He has also worked in a leading TV Channels Integrator Company of India as a Project Engineer. He has successfully completed installation work for KALINGA TV, Bhubaneswar/ICT studio of RIE, Bhubaneswar as a Project Engineer. He has also worked in NCERT, Bhubaneswar (Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) as a Engineering Assistant.

Siladitya Sanyal

Professor, Direction & Producing for Electronic & Digital Media

Post Graduate Diploma in Film Direction & Screenplay Writing from SRFTI, Siladitya Sanyal has worked in the industry for more than fifteen years in TV, Advertisement Films and Feature Films as Producer, Executive Producer, Writer, Director and Creative Director.He has worked as a Director/Creative Director for more than a dozen shows for mainstream entertainment channels like Start Jalsa, Zee Bangla, Zee Bangla Cinema, Sananda TV, Tara Bangla, Colors Bangla, ETV Bangla, Maa TV, Asianet & others. During different phases of his work he has been associated with several national production houses like Big Synergy, BBC Worldwide, Black Magic Motion Pictures, Seyon Productions under Miditech, Colosceuma and others. He has been handling brands like DSP (Durgapur Steel Plant), Ultra Plus Supercomp and Radio Mirchi among others for their advertisement films, corporate film and event based shows. Siladitya’s Film have participated in festivals like MIFF & KIFF and has been awarded at the BFJA (Bengal Film Journalist’s Association) Awards. Siladitya has worked as the Chief Assistant Director for film ‘Nisshabd’, an Indo-French Co-production, that won the Best Film Award at the OSIAN Film Festival. Somdev Chatterjee

Assistant Professor, Direction & Producing for Electronic and Digital Media

Somdev Chatterjee graduated from SRFTI with a P.G Diploma in Screenplay writing and Direction in 2004 and has been working as a writer and filmmaker for over a decade. He has directed several documentaries (prominent among which are The Student Headmaster for Al Jazeera Children’s channel and Drugged to Death for Al Jazeera Network) corporate communication videos, besides working as a writer for Bangla fiction television shows. He has taught in the Television Direction department in FTll in 2006-08, and at a few private media schools since. He has been a member of the faculty at SRFTI since 2012, besides being empanelled as an examiner with St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.

Srijani Dey

Production Manager, Direction & Producing for Electronic & Digital Media

An alumna of the producing course at Satyajit Ray Film & Televison Institute, Srijani was part of the Production team of the Excel Entertainment feature film ‘Fukrey Returns’. She has also worked as an Assistant Director in Multiple Ads Films with leading as Production houses.Before embarking on her filmmaking aspirations, Srijani has pursued and completed her masters in Film studies from Jadavpur University.

Rabiranjan Maitra

Consultant Professor, Editing for Electronic & Digital Media

After completing his diploma in still photography from Kolkata, he has joined and graduated from FTII, pune as an editor. He has edited 120 feature films and continues to work as an industry professional.
He has edited more than 2000 episodes for television.He has directed two feature films and many television programs.He has directed nine reality shows and more than 40 telefilms. He has directed many TVCs, corporate films, company audio visuals etc.

Shantanu Pal

Assistant Professor, Editing for Electronic and Digital Media

Postgraduate Diploma in Cinema specializing in Editing from SRFTI, Kolkata. Shantanu worked as an editor in Doordarshan, Kolkata and as editor in charge for a satellite channel; as a freelance editor he has done many fiction and non-fiction projects for television. Served as a Lecturer in Editing at St. Xavier’s College in the Department of Mass Communication and Videography. He conducted workshops and Lecture sessions for various media institutes and is empanelled as an examiner/paper setter for West Bengal University of Technology, West Bengal State University (Film Studies Department), Roopkala Kendra (an Institute of Film and Social Communication, Government of West Bengal) etc.

Sudipto Shankar Roy

Graphic Designer, Editing for Electronic and Digital Media

An alumnus of SRFTI Sudipto Shankar Roy is an industry professional since 2009 both as an Editor as well as a Motion Graphic Artist. He has been associated with Advertising Films both in Kolkata as well as in Mumbai in various capacities but most importantly as a Post Production Supervisor. He was the Visual Effects Artist for the film ‘Crossing Bridges’ which won the National Award in 2014. Sudipto also won the Best Editor Award at the 8th Cut.in Festival in 2015, organized by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences for the film ‘Jalasayanam’. Several documentaries and short films edited by him have been selected and awarded in prestigious Film Festivals like Imagine India Film Festival, Kolkata International Film Festival, Signs FiIm FestivaI, Vibgyor FiIm FestivaI etc. For a short period he was also engaged as the Editor and Post Production Coordinator in the Editing Dept. (Film Wing) SRFTI, from 2013 to 2015. Apart from his Industry engagements he has in the past imparted knowledge to students of various institutes like WLCI Kolkata, iLEAD, Aliah University, IIT Kharagpur etc.

Sumitava Roy

Consultant Professor, Sound for Electronic & Digital Media

Sumitava Roy has been associated with media industry since mid-seventies.He is an alumnus of the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He has worked in Doordarshan as Sound Recordist for 12 years covering National & International programmes (including NAM, CHOGM, SAARC etc) and in documentaries, some of which went to national & international film festivals and won awards; done television training at AIBD, Kualalampur. Thereafter done audiography for more than three hundreds serials, hundreds of documentaries, telefilms and other programmes and events.He has produced and/or directed a number of commissioned and sponsored serials,telefilms, documentaries for Doordarshan, Film Division, ETV so on and so forth (Documentaries on ‘Durga Puja’ in Singapore’; ‘Calcutta High Court’ and ‘The Armenians of Kolkata’ have been the recent ones).He has worked in academic areas as a regular faculty at R.I.P.T Jadavpur and been associated with a number of media schools (St. Xaviers College. NSHM, Roop Kala Kendra etc.) as a visiting faculty.

SK. Abdul Rajjak

Assistant Professor, Sound for Electronic and Digital Media

A Diploma holder in Cinema specializing in Sound Recording and Sound Engineering from Film & Television Institute of India, Pune. He has successfully done Location Sound Recording and Sound Designing for several feature films, tele-films, tele-serials and award winning documentary films. He has also directed and scripted two documentary films, one of which was selected in Indian Panorama, IFFl-2008.

Arijit Mitra

Sound Recordist, Sound for Electronic and Digital Media

Postgraduate Diploma in Cinema specializing in Audiography from SRFTI, Kolkata. Arijit has worked as a freelance sound recordist in documentaries, fiction, wild-life films and corporate videos.His diploma film ‘TWO NOTEs’ has been awarded in KIFF and SIGN and selected for IFFI and Cannes Short Film Corner. He has worked as a Sync Sound Recordist for the Television Movie ‘TAK JHAL MISTHI’ being part of ZEE originals series. His co-directed and audiographed documentaries have been selected for festivals like IDSFFK. He has conducted Workshops and Lectures sessions for a few media institutes of Kolkata. He is also involved in Acoustic designing and installations.

Rules & Regulation

• On the occasion of Satyajit Ray’s birth centenary celebration, a short filmmaking competition is organized among the film school students. Only existing students of film schools can participate and submit films for competition.
• There are two awards:
• Best film under international category
• Best film under national category
• For each category there is Best Film Award, an amount of INR 1,00,000 (In Words: One lakh Indian Rupees only) along with a trophy and certificate. The award will be handed over to the student director of the film.
• The international category is open for students under CILECT film schools. Any India film school and a member of CILECT can submit either for International Category or for National Category. A film cannot be submitted for both categories.
• All Indian film schools as well as media departments under universities that produce film as course curriculum can participate for the National Competition.
• there is no entry fee for submission.
• The film should follow the theme of the competition: REALISM.
• Only live action fiction films will be considered for competition. The duration of the film should be within 10 minutes.
• The preview copy for the jury should be in .mp4 format.
• All submitted films may be in any language but must be subtitled in English.
• You can also register and submit your film details at raytoday.in/contest.php.
• Last date for submission of online entry form along with the film link: December 31, 2021.
• No submission will be considered after December 15, 2021.
• Only the winners of the awards (both the directors of the film and the concerned institution) will be communicated on January 15, 2022.
• The decision of the jury members is final.
• The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, the 30th of January, 2022, on the closing day of 6th CLAPSTICK INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FILM FESTIVAL 2022, a bi-annual festival organised by Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute.
• On successful entry and upload, the student filmmaker / participating film school agrees that all information / content will be available to Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute for usage in any manner it thinks fit, subject to applicable provisions of the legislation of India.
• The student filmmaker / participating film school also agrees that the information / content does not infringe the intellectual or other proprietary interests of any third parties.
• The student filmmaker / participating film school agrees to grant a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free right to exercise intellectual property of the submitted content.
