Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute(SRFTI) in collaboration with VigyanPrasar is organizing 5th International Science Film Festival of India (ISFFI) from 6 – 8 November 2019 at SRFTI campus. ISFFI seeks to promote science popularization among citizens and aims at attracting talented young filmmakers and science enthusiasts. The film festival offers an opportunity for students and other participants to get involved with the process and improve their understanding of various feats in science and technology.
Internationally acclaimed and award winning foreign and Indian films on science health and environment will be screened during the festival. A competition for Indian independent and student filmmakers will be organized on the theme ‘Research, Innovation & Science Empowering Nation’. Filmmakers will be facilitated with IISF Science Film Awards. Two feature films, ‘Mission Mangal’ and ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ will be screened. There will be special screening of films on 1st Indian Scientific South Pole Expedition at 2009 followed by discussion with scientists. A day long Symposium titled ‘Packaging of Science for Public Interest’ and panel discussion on various aspects of cinema and science communication will also be the part of the festival.
Several eminent personalities like BuddhadebDasgupta, R. Balki, A. K. Bir, KaushikGanguly, Piere Oliver Francois, Abhishek Sharma, parthaGhose, Rama Marinov Cohen, BikashSinha, Kornetzky Brigitte Ute, Andreas Van De Lar, Kartik Sharma, Chris Godwin, Li-Yu-Fu, Lovita J R Morang will be present during the festival
The festival is internationally partnered with High Commission of Canada, Millennium Institute of Oceanography Chile, Embassy of Denmark, Embassy of Israel, Science Foundation Ireland, Media Service Nepal, Embassy of Spain, Embassy of Sweden and different organization from Switzerland, Germany, UK, USA and Taiwan.
