Narbod is a religious ritual performed at Hindu funerals to ward evil spirits off the surroundings. Traditionally an upper caste initiative, this ritual opened up occupational avenues for the lower caste. That’s how 9 year old Bhanu learned to perform it for the families of the deceased. `His single mother works double shifts to make their ends meet but Bhanu hopes for a higher death rate in the village, so he can finally ward poverty off. |
