Abdul Rajjak (Assistant Professor, Media Audio)

 Academic qualification:B.Sc with Physics Honours from Calcutta University, Post Graduate Diploma with specialization in Sound Recordingand Sound Engineering from FTII, Pune

Industry experience: Scripted and directed a Documentary Film: Yearn To Learn- Madrasah Education in West Bengal ,which was selected in Indian Panorama,IFFI.2008. Worked in documentaries, feature films, telefilms and TV serials as sound recordist and audiographer.

 

Chandan Goswami (Assistant Professor)

An alumni of FTII Pune Chandan Goswami has got 17 years of work experience that includes many Hindi [Hera-Hoda aka Blind Camel,Trisha, Morning Walk, Monica, Das Capital etc.] and Bengali [Bari tar Bangla, Bonku Babu etc.] feature films to his credit as DOP along with several Documentary [Sahitya Academi directed by eminent film maker and lyricist Gulzar], television series [IC 814 Hijack for NGC, Mano Ya Na mano for Star One] etc.

Academic Experience: Various workshop on Digital Cinematography for practitioners and students. Lectures on aspects of the Digital image for seminars

Professional experience: Various features, TVCs, and non-fiction including:

‘10ml-Love’ , Dir: Sharat Katarya, 35mm Anamorphic (Feature); ‘Urmi’, Dir: Ruchi Pugalia, 35mm(Short Feature);’Afternoon’, Dir: Sudipto Acharaya, Canon 5D (Feature); Tata Sky, Saaz Masalas, Ecole Mondiale etc (TVCs), ‘Golibar’ , ‘Shared Footage Group’(Non-Fiction).Currently working on a docu-feature with eminent director Kumar Shahani(35mm).

Standardizing Digital Projection to DCI standards. Restoration work on ‘Char Adhyay’, “Kasba’, ‘Tarang’ and currently on ‘Maya Darpan’ all directed by Kumar Sahani, being done under the aegis of NFDC.

Tuhinabha Majumdar (1st Batch)

Winner of the Golden Conch Award at MIFF 2012 in the International Competition Section for the film “Midnight Bioscope”

 

Saikat S. Ray (4th batch)

Won the National Award  for Best Editor in the film “Hope Dies last in War” (2007).

Also received 2 IDPA Gold Awards for Editing for the films “Din Tak Dha” (2008) and “Many Stories of Love and Hate” (2010).

 

Sankhajit Biswas (4th batch)

The film “In Between Days” directed by Sankhajit was selected at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in 2013.

Recently his documentary film “Dui Duranir Golpo” has been selected in many reputed international Festivals.

 

Atanu Mukherjee (6th batch)

The film “Monsoon Shootout” which was edited by Atanu Mukherjee was selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.

Vipin Vijay (1st batch)

Won the Hassankutty Award at the Kerala International Film Festival in 2010 for the film “Chitrasutram”

Was also nominated for the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival for the same film in 2011.

 

Anjalika Sharma (1st batch)

Won the Best First Non-Feature Film of a Director in the 48th National Film Awards, 2000 for her Diploma Film “Meena Jha” produced at SRFTI.

 

Amal Neerad (1st Batch)

Has directed many Malayalam feature films, e.g. “Big B”, “Bachelor Party”, “Anchu Sundharikal” and had done Cinematography for Ram Gopal Varma productions viz., “James”, “Darna Zaroori Hai”, “Shiva”.

 

Sagar Ballary (2nd Batch)

Director of one of the superhit Bollywood films of recent times “Bheja Fry” (2007). Also directed “Kachha Limboo” (2010), “Bheja Fry 2” (2011) and “Hum Tum Shabana” (2011).

 

Tridib Poddar(2nd Batch)

His Diploma film “Khoj” produced at SRFTI (2000) is the first Indian students’ film which got an official selection in competition in the Cinefoundation section at Cannes Film Festival, 2002. “Khoj” also received the Best First Film of a Director (National) at MIFF, 2004 and Best Director, Short Fiction – BFJA Awards, 2002.

 

Anirban Dutta (3rd batch)

Won the 57th National Film Award (Non-Feature), jointly for Best Environment/Conservation/Preservation Film & Agricultural Film for the film “In For Motion” (2009).

  • Film: black & white and colour, executing narrative & experimental projects, working with labs as part of image creation exercise
  • Lighting and handling grip, gaffer units and accessories.

Film studio of 80’x50’ dimension with gangways criss-crossing the ceiling. Makes Studio Lighting study close to line-practises.

Television studio 40’x40’ dimension has Teleclimbers and is air conditioned. Meant for Television based programs with a PCR attached.

A Classroom Theater with digital projection as well as 16mm projection possibilities.

with very capable staff for support and supervision.

The Still camera section has a studio classroom equipped with an assortment of analog and digital still cameras- Canon 1000D, Canon 660D, Canon5D, lenses, professional studio lights-Problitz, High Resolution Negative Scanner, darkrooms and a projection system. The studio is in the process of being upgraded as a digital lab.

Subhodro Chowdhury (Associate Professor)

Academic qualification: Post Graduate Diploma in Direction from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Professional experience: Has been working for 15 years as an independent filmmaker based in Kolkata; directed critically acclaimed feature films like Prohor and Clerk.

Award:Best short Fiction National Award in 1995 for his diploma film Still Life, Best First Film of a Director National Award in 2003 for Prohor; prestigious Jury Award in Asian competition in IFFI 2003 for Prohor; Clerk (2010) has been selected for the Pusan Film Festival.

 

Biren Das Sharma (Associate Professor)

Background: A film society activist and a film historian who has worked as a freelance film critic for many years. He regularly lectures and writes on cinema.

Academic qualification: Recipient of Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India; fellow of the prestigious Salzburg Seminar (Austria); recipient of research fellowship from the Indian Foundation for the Arts and another fellowship from SARAI-CSDS.

Teaching experience : Academic coordinator, Chitrabani Mass Communication Centre under St. Xavier’s College; visiting faculty to Film Studies Department, Calcutta University and Jadavpur University for several years; project co-ordinator at Seagull Foundation for the Arts.
