The film is about a child’s intimate bond with the pet goat, brought home for a sacrifice on the day of Eid, is buttressed, largely on the sincere performance by the young actor who plays Farhan. In the film, the boy is heart broken when he learns that the goat he had lovingly christened Munna will have to be sacrificed. His parents try to talk to him about the supreme value of sacrifice but Farhan is too attached to the goat to let it die. He devices his own ingenious way of saving the goat’s life and even the local Moulavi is convinced that sometime Allah chooses to speak through children. Manoj Srivastav, who did the sound for this film, remembers, ‘It was fun recording animal sounds. Whenever I held the mike in front of the goat, it refused to bleat.’ |
