SRFTI Cinematography Students Explore ARRI Trinity with Steadicam Expert Chintu Sarangi

The Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) keeps finding bridges to connect what happens in the classroom to the real world of filmmaking through immersive learning experiences. Just recently, the cinematography students got to hang out with Chintu Sarangi, a Steadicam operator who’s worked on some of India’s biggest movies.

Chintu’s got credits on blockbusters like Ponniyin Selvan 2, Pushpa 2, and Singham Returns. He’s teamed up with respected cinematographers, including Ravi Varman and Ravi K. Chandran, so he brought a tone of practical know-how to the session.
The real standout was Chintu’s live demo of the ARRI Trinity camera stabiliser. It’s a technical marvel — filmmakers use it to pull off fluid, complex camera moves. Students got their hands on the gear, saw first-hand how it opens up new creative possibilities, and learned how these tools help tell stories visually.
