Outreach
The Outreach Office of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Deemed to be University, Kolkata, established in early 2025, serves as the Institute's nodal office for fostering national and international academic collaborations. It actively engages with leading film schools, universities, media institutions, cultural organisations, government bodies and industry partners in India and across the world to promote academic excellence, knowledge exchange and cross-cultural engagement.
Following its recognition as a Deemed to be University under the Distinct Category by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the commencement of Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree programmes in Cinema and Electronic & Digital Media, SRFTI has further strengthened its commitment to the internationalisation of higher education. Guided by the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Institute seeks to create a globally connected academic ecosystem that encourages multidisciplinary learning, academic mobility, collaborative research, innovation and international exposure for students, faculty members and researchers.
Alongside its expanding international partnerships, SRFTI has also established strategic collaborations with premier academic, cultural and professional institutions across India. These partnerships facilitate joint academic programmes, faculty development initiatives, workshops, research collaborations, industry interactions, technology transfer, capacity building and other activities that enrich the learning experience while strengthening institutional cooperation within the country.
Through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and institutional partnerships, the Outreach Office facilitates student and faculty exchanges, collaborative teaching, joint research, semester abroad opportunities, credit transfer, film screenings, masterclasses, workshops, curriculum enrichment, cultural exchanges and other academic initiatives. These collaborations enable students and faculty members to engage with diverse pedagogical approaches, emerging technologies, creative practices and global best practices in film, television, media and allied disciplines.
As one of India's premier institutions for film, television and media education, SRFTI endeavours to build enduring partnerships with internationally reputed universities and film schools while simultaneously strengthening collaborations with leading Indian institutions. These partnerships promote excellence in education, research, artistic collaboration and professional practice, while contributing towards India's cultural diplomacy and the advancement of film and media education through meaningful exchanges of knowledge, creativity and innovation.
