SRFTI Alumnus P. Saanu Makes History with Oscar-Submitted ‘PAPA BUKA’
Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) is bursting with pride as alumnus P. Saanu’s exceptional work on Dr. Biju’s film ‘PAPA BUKA’ earns a spot as Papua New Guinea’s first-ever Oscar submission! The film has been selected as the country’s official entry to the 98th Academy Awards 2026 in the Best International Feature Film category.
A standout achievement for P. Saanu, who honed his skills in production sound mixing and design at SRFTI, ‘PAPA BUKA’ is a powerful co-production between Papua New Guinea and India. The film beautifully weaves together the nation’s history, the sacrifices of Indian soldiers, and the deep-rooted cultural ties between the two countries.
