International Training Programme on Library Automation for Professional Enrichment (ITPLAPE): emphasizing on current technology trends

10th December to 16th December 2018

Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata is organizing an International Training Programme on Library Automation for Professional Enrichment (ITPLAPE): emphasizing on current technology trends from 10th December to 16th December 2018. The main objectives of the training programme are

• To create awareness among professionals about open source technology & its application in library.
• To make the library professionals technically sound so as to automate their library independently without any support & also to develop the online application with the help of Content Management System.
• To enable the Library & Information Professionals to face the technological challenges such as installation, data migration, multi- branch handling etc.
• And, to strengthen the society & professionals.

Theme of the Training programme

The main theme of the training programme is to provide theoretical foundation as well as hands-on training keeping in mind the rapid development in the field of IT to the academic and library and information professionals. The training programme intends to cover the essential concepts and technologies for smooth functioning and building a Smart Library. A true hands-on training will be imparted to all the participants enabling them for installation and running some of the essential open source software in their libraries or information centres.

The following topics will be covered:

• Managing Digital / Audio-Visual Resources in Libraries
• Digital repository of audio-visual resources
• Application of Open Source Software in the Libraries
• Open source software like Koha, DSpace etc.
• Discovery tools and services
• Vufind – Integration of Koha and Dspace
• Citation management and Look up through Zotero
• Current technology trends

Target Participants

Librarians, Working professionals and research scholars in the field of Library and Information Science, Information Specialists, Faculty members of Library and Information Science, Officers under the Central or State Government or Union Territories, interested academicians, and other disciplines may attend this advanced training programme which will be very effective to run and use modern library. It may also be noted that IT Professionals working in Library are also suitable to attend the courses.

The week-long intensive and advanced training programme cum training courses on Library and Information Science will help him/her to earn-
 API score as per UGC guidelines.
